Your first appointment will last 60 minutes.
Subsequent appointments last 40 minutes.
On the first consultation I will take a detailed case history about your current complaint, past medical history and any other health issues. This is will ensure that I treat you appropriately and safely.
For patients under the age of 16 I ask that a relative or guardian over the age of 18 be present during consultations.
All information given during the case history and subsequent consultations is strictly confidential. The information will be stored in a locked filing cabinet.
A postural assessment will be performed with your consent. This involves an examination of your posture and observation of how your spine and other parts of your body move.
During the assessment you will be asked to perform a few very simple movements whilst standing and sitting. I may also carry out other tests such as reflexes, muscle strength assessment.
What to wear.
We will need to feel for tightness in the muscles and stiffness in the joints and may need to touch these areas to identify problems. We will explain this as we go along, but if you are uncomfortable with any part of this then let us know, we can discuss this with you or stop if you prefer.
As with a visit to a GP or other medical professional, for us to examine you effectively it may be necessary for us to ask you to remove some clothing as appropriate for the condition. This may mean undressing down to your underwear. If this is a problem for you then let us know. Alternatively wearing items, such as sports clothing, or close-fitting garments, will enable me to work effectively.
You are also welcome to bring someone with you for all or part of your consultation, and children should always be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Remember, if you have any questions, we will be happy to discuss this with you.
Each treatment is tailored to the individual needs of the patient and aims to reduce symptoms, alleviate pain and improve mobility and function.
Your treatment will start on your first appointment and you may experience some mild soreness afterward, but in most cases, this will pass within 24 hrs. if you have any questions about your treatment please discuss these with myself throughout your appointment.
It is understandable that when life gets busy an appointment may be overlooked and missed. But if this happens on more than two occasions you may incur additional costs to the third appointment.
If you cannot attend your appointment, please try and cancel your appointment 24 hours before so others may have your allotted time.
